Table Numbers

I'm pretty excited for the table number idea that I came up with. It involves our furry little black friend. Since our puppy can't be at our indoor wedding we have to include him so how. So... I think we are going to take pictures of him around town with a blank sign and then add in table numbers. the picture would be framed and placed on the corresponding tables. It will look something like this but more with a sign and our dog :)

Flowers... Flowers..... Flowers!

When we first began planning our wedding.... I said... "No, I don't really care about flowers, they seem over priced and they just end up dying." But............. when I started looking at pictures of centerpieces and bouquets, I knew it was something that I would regret not having. Therefore, as a budgeting compromise, I will be "DIY"ing the flowers. Since we don't have a large bridal party the main arrangements will be for the tables. Franklin Plaza provides candleaubras (probably not spelled right) for is to use so we will utilize them!

Trevor's fraternity's official flower is the White Rose, hence in collage we attended the "White Rose Formal" every fall. So, because of this Trevor said we could get flowers, so I'm going white rose crazy the Thursday/ Friday before the wedding.

I'll probably whip one of these up:

And for the candleaubras, I'll decorate them like the Donald did:

Yeah right, I'm no Martha Stewart. However, I do like the simple, compactness (probably not a real word) of this design.

Anyways, I'm going to order the flowers from a wholesaler online and arrange them myself. I'm thinking white and cream colored roses in a simple glass vase for the low centerpeices, and then a small compact bouquet type arrangement in the higher candelaubras. In any event it should be a lovely frustrating DIY task that I will love. :)

The Dress!

I've ordered my dress! It should be here in 8-10 weeks. I just went ahead and ordered my "dream" dress. Here's a sneak peak of the dress:

I went to a few bridal boutiques in Massachusetts with my mom and sister and found a terrific dress. The dress fit me perfectly and was just great but, I left knowing it wasn't exactly what I wanted. So, if something goes wrong with the dress I've ordered online I always have a terrific option.

I must say Valerie's Bridal in North Reading was a terrific place to shop! They were very informed on the gowns they had and knew right away the style and material I was looking for. Although, I might not get my gown there, I will definitely be back to look for my sister 's and mom's attire!

Our Knot Web Site

Putting together our website was one of the first tasks that I tackled. I knew that including the link on the save the dates was important so that guest could begin planning their visit. I included hotel information, local attractions and restaruants, as well as a few stories about Trevor & I. In general I think the site came out ok and the theme fit into our overall wedding look.

The Photography

Trevor and I both realized how important the photography of our wedding would be. Other than the memories, this is really the only thing you get to take away from the day. After meeting our first "photographist" candidate, it seemed like we left with more questions than answers.

At the suggestion of Lee Waddell, we met with Suzanne Kawola of Play of Light. During our first meeting it really became clear to us what wedding photography should be. Not only did we love her photos, but her training and background was great! She showed us many weddings she had done at Franklin Plaza. Her photographs captured the traditional wedding shots, the great architecture of the building as well as terrific candids of the guests.

The Location

The wedding ceremony and reception will be held at the Franklin Plaza Ballroom in Troy, NY. Trevor was introduced to the site by a fellow Ruck employee who also worked door for the plaza. Trevor thought the food he tried was just great so we scheduled an appointment to see the site back in July 2007. After our appointment with Micheal, we thought that this would just be the perfect hometown venue for our wedding!

The plaza is an old bank and has a terrific marble bar and great tall ceilings. The venue is set up perfectly to have a ceremony in the one section of the ballroom, move the guests upstairs for the cocktail hour, then gather everyone in the ballroom for dinner and dancing!

Here are a few pictures from the Franklin Plaza web site.

Save the Date!

It's official! The Save the Dates have been ordered, addressed, stamped and mailed! We ordered the Save the Dates magnets from Pioneer Color. The design was called "Rose Reflection". I was very happy with their service and the product we received. They provided an online proof within a few days and the order was shipped about a week after I approved the proof. For some reason we opted out of the "have your return address printed on the back of the envelopes". Printing both the back flaps of the envelopes and the addresses on the envelopes was more time consuming than I had originally thought! It took me almost 5 hrs to figure it out. Since I'm an engineer, of course I had to print the envelopes from my old "student" version of AutoCAD! The good news is now I have it figured out for when I make my invitations!

Here's how it turned out :(minus the scribble over our names)
